Lesson Plans
These are samples of my lesson plans from a unit in American history about civil rights movements in the 1950s-1960s.
Lesson Plan #1
This is my first example lesson plan, which is within my civil rights unit for American history. With this lesson, I have students practice historical empathy. I attempted to this by having them look through historical sources, as well as having them create a product that reflects the work of grassroot organizations of this era.
This is my second lesson plan. It i also an example of a lesson on civil rights movements in the 1950s-1960. This lesson introduces key court cases that influenced American policy. While this may seem more like a civics lesson, it helps contribute to the narrative of how multiple civil rights movement throughout time contributed to make change in discriminatory policies.
Lesson Plan #2
Lesson #3
This is my third example lesson plan from my civil rights unit. This lesson focuses on the Chicano movement and how it influenced American policy. This lesson also focuses on historical memory, and has students look at different digital exhibits to see how historical narratives change with what items are presented.
